Policies

At St Paul’s, policies aren’t just documents. They reflect our values, guide our decisions, and help ensure that every student feels safe, supported and can thrive.

We believe that clarity, transparency and consistency are key to building trust with our families and community. Below, you’ll find the most important local school policies that shape day-to-day life at St Paul’s.

These have been carefully developed by our leadership team and governors to reflect our school’s ethos and priorities, and to respond to the specific needs of our students, families and staff.

Local and Trust Policies: What’s the Difference?

Local policies are created and maintained by St Paul’s.

They cover aspects of school life where individual schools are encouraged to tailor their approach such as uniform expectations, behaviour, homework (ILTs) and pastoral support.

Local policies are published on our website (see further down).

Trust policies are set by Bosco Catholic Education Trust.

These apply across all schools within the Trust and cover statutory requirements, safeguarding, data protection, complaints, HR and finance. While we follow these policies fully, we may provide school-specific guidance or additions where helpful.

Trust policies are published on the Trust’s website.

The Trust provides over 30 different policies to its schools which can be found on Bosco Catholic Education Trust’s website including:

Safeguarding and Complaints

  • Safeguarding & Child Protection
  • Allegations Against Staff
  • Whistleblowing
  • Complaints

Governance, Data & Privacy

  • Data Protection
  • Freedom of Information
  • CCTV
  • Records Management
  • Health & Safety

Safeguarding & Pupils

  • SEND & Disability
  • Attendance
  • Behaviour (Statement)
  • Charging & Remissions

Local Policies

These policies reflect our day-to-day practice and expectations. They are developed by the school’s leadership team and governing body to serve our local context, and are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our students and families. In some cases, our local policies supplement Trust-wide policies.

Understanding Exam Regulations at St Paul’s

At St Paul’s, we want every student to feel confident and well-prepared when sitting formal assessments.

That’s why we provide clear guidance on all exam procedures, helping you understand what to expect, what to avoid, and how to stay calm and focused.

As a school, we follow the national rules set by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ). These regulations apply to all schools and colleges across the country and ensure that exams are fair and consistent for everyone.

Each year, JCQ publishes a series of helpful documents that explain what students need to know before taking part in exams or assessments including rules about written and on-screen exams, coursework, use of technology, and social media.

If you have any questions about exam arrangements, special considerations, or need support with any part of the exam process, please speak to your Form Tutor, Head of Year, or the Exams Officer. We’re here to help you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We are happy to provide paper copies of any policy free of charge. Please contact the school office to request a printed version.

Policies that apply across all Bosco Trust schools, such as Safeguarding, Complaints, and Finance, are set centrally and can be found via the Trust’s website. Local policies are specific to St Paul’s and relate to our daily routines, expectations and curriculum.

Each policy is reviewed regularly, typically every 1–3 years depending on the policy type. We work hard to ensure all statutory policies are kept fully up to date and reflective of the most current guidance, but if the latest copy is not available, please notify our school office team.

For questions about school policies, you can contact the school office in the first instance, and they will direct your query to the appropriate member of staff.

You’ll find key expectations for students outlined in our Behaviour Policy and Uniform Policy, both linked in the table above. Homework guidance is included in our Teaching & Learning section.
