Food & Break Times

Private: Explore St Paul’s Food & Break Times

Break & Lunch Timings

We operate a staggered break and lunch system to reduce queues and support student wellbeing during social times:

  • Years 7, 9, 11 and 12 have first break and lunch
  • Years 8, 10 and 13 have second break and lunch

This helps manage the number of students in the canteen and shared spaces.

Where to Eat

We want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy their break and lunchtimes at College. There are designated areas where students can eat, relax, and spend time with friends. You can find these clearly marked on our breaktime/lunchtime school map.

Behaviour Expectations

We ask that students kindly…

  • Eat in the dining area, canteens, or Bailey Hall at lunchtime.
  • Tidy up after yourself and your friends.
  • Use the bins provided for any rubbish.
  • Use allocated lunchrooms during mock exams or in extreme wet weather.
  • Line up in pairs in the amphitheatre when queuing for the canteen.

Students should not…

  • Be upstairs in the corridor during break or lunch.
  • Use devices around the school at these times.
  • Eat food outside of the designated areas. Please use the bins for packaging and waste.

For more details regarding our behaviour expectations, please refer to our Behaviour Policy.

Menus

We at St Paul’s, along with our catering partners Innovate Foods, are committed to providing an exceptional catering experience, with exciting menus packed with goodness, variety and attitude.

For those students wishing to eat a packed lunch, we encourage families and students to make healthy choices. To protect those with severe nut allergies, St Paul’s is a ‘nuts free’ school.

What's On Offer

The Innovate kitchen offer a wide variety of freshly made hot meals, sandwiches, snacks and salads:

  • A huge selection of grab-and-go items including baguettes, paninis, burritos and salads to name a few, all using our barcode system to help speed up the queues.
  • A variety of healthy, tasty main meals prepared fresh every day from carefully selected ingredients, following a weekly pattern. Discounts are available when purchased as a ‘meal deal’.
  • Our tasty, vegetarian and vegan ‘V’ range including the V Burger, Falafel & Houmous Market Wrap & Vegan Fresh Fruit Smoothies.
  • Deli-style range of snacks for Sixth Form students available all day.
  • Theme days including Chinese New Year, American Independence Day and St George’s Day to name a few.

How to Pay for Food

St Paul’s operates a cashless catering system to reduce the needs for students to carry cash, speed up service, and allow families to monitor spending.

Online Payments

Families can pre-load funds onto their child’s lunch account via SCOPay.com (instructions are provided before September). Students then use their fingerprint (biometrics) to pay at the tills.

  • There is a default daily spend limit of £10. However, if you would like a lower daily limit put in place for your child, please contact us at info@stpaulscc.co.uk and we will be happy to arrange this for you.
  • Online payments made by debit or credit card are processed by Cunninghams, so your bank statement will show ‘Cunninghams’ for these transactions.

Paying by Cash or Cheque

If online payment isn’t possible, you may top up your child’s account with cash or cheque at the Innovate office, located in the canteen.

  • Payments must be made at the very start of the school day — there is no facility to top up at break or lunch.
  • Cheques should be made payable to:
    Innovate Services Ltd

Please ensure your child’s account has sufficient funds in advance to avoid disruption at lunchtime.
