Opportunities

At St Paul’s, education is more than just lessons, it’s about unlocking potential, building character, and nurturing gifts.

We believe every student should have access to enriching experiences that broaden their horizons and inspire confidence, curiosity, and compassion. Whether on the sports field, the stage, or serving their community, our students are given the chance to grow and flourish.

Why Opportunities Matter

We are immensely proud of the vibrant success of our creative departments, which are at the heart of student expression and community life at St Paul’s. These departments work collaboratively to offer enriching opportunities for students across all year groups, nurturing individual talents while fostering teamwork, confidence, and a love for performance.

From beautifully choreographed liturgies and reverent whole-school Masses, to thought-provoking assemblies, uplifting concerts, and full-scale theatrical productions, our students regularly bring their creativity to life in meaningful and inspiring ways. Whether performing, composing, designing sets, or managing backstage, every student is encouraged to explore their gifts and contribute to something greater than themselves.

Our commitment to creativity goes beyond the classroom. It builds character, celebrates diversity, and encourages students to be bold, imaginative, and expressive in everything they do.

A Level Success

At A Level, our students also excel:

  • Our ALPS Three Year T Score Grade is a 2 (Outstanding), reflecting consistent excellence over time
  • In 2024, 58.5% of students achieved A-B* grades, with 78.9% achieving A-C* grades
  • An impressive 98.1% of students passed their A level exams

These results reflect the hard work, resilience, and talent of our students, supported by dedicated staff and a nurturing school community.

Opportunities at St Paul's

Leadership

From Head Students to Student Council, our students are trusted with real responsibility and the chance to shape school life through service, voice, and example.

Faith in Action

Whether fundraising for CAFOD, supporting house charities, or journeying to Lourdes, students live out our values through meaningful acts of compassion and solidarity.

Performing Arts

Our drama productions, choirs, and music ensembles offer students the chance to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and experience the joy of performance.

Sports

From competitive teams to inclusive clubs, our sports programme encourages teamwork, resilience, and a healthy sense of challenge, both on and off the field.

Clubs & Societies

With something for everyone, from coding and debating to the Eco Team, our wide range of clubs helps students discover interests, build friendships, and grow in confidence.

Trips & Visits

Students benefit from a rich calendar of local, national, and international trips that bring learning to life and broaden their experience of the world.

Student Voice

We actively listen to students through Student Council, surveys, mentoring and improvement projects, ensuring they feel heard, valued, and involved in shaping our school’s future.

Trips & Visits

There are many educational trips and visits in our academic calendar for students across all year groups ranging from conferences and workshops to theatre performances, overseas residential trips, community away days, and competition events.

Our educational trips and visits help reinforce curriculum content and provide an engaging, ‘real life’ context where students can apply their knowledge and understanding. All of our trips and visits have clearly defined learning outcomes and are designed to inspire young learners, stimulate their curiosity and meet their individual learning styles whilst having fun.

Of course, the benefits go beyond students’ learning. These trips and visits also provide an opportunity for students to build closer bonds with their classmates and teachers, experience new environments, see new sights and provide memorable experiences that can last a lifetime. Students gain a better understanding of their community and learn how to become good citizens.

Sports & Fixtures

Our active PE department organise and supervise dozens of fortnightly lunch time and after school sports clubs and fixtures to supplement regular PE lessons. The wide variety of sports on offer change throughout the seasons.

St Paul's Day

Each summer, our whole school community comes together to celebrate St Paul’s Day, a joyful and high-energy event filled with student-led fundraising, creativity and community spirit.

Students organise and run a wide variety of fun stalls and activities to raise money for our Catholic charities, taking on roles that showcase their leadership, teamwork and initiative.

It’s a vibrant, laughter-filled day that not only raises significant funds, but also strengthens bonds across year groups and celebrates everything that makes our school special.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Inspiring Young Leaders

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award. Established in 1953 and undertaken by millions of young people throughout the UK, the award offers three progressive levels, Bronze (Year 10), Silver (Year 11) and Gold (Sixth Form). Each award offers young people the opportunity to push their personal boundaries, develop new skills, build friendships, improve their self-confidence and enhance CVs and University applications.

Participants will design a programme for personal development in an area of their choice. This could be volunteering to help their local community, learning a new skill, such as learning the guitar, designing a website, practicing cooking, or improving their physical fitness.

Each award culminates in an expedition in Ashdown Forest, New Forest, Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia, where participants will learn outdoor skills such as camp craft, first aid and navigation, all whilst undertaking a personal journey of discovery. Duke of Edinburgh offers a life-changing experience for students that helps to shape their future.
