Year 12 Geographers Stay at Exmoor National Park

This April, our Year 12 geographers stayed at Nettlecombe Court FSC within Exmoor National Park to practice their fieldwork skills and prepare them for their A-level NEA.

Each day had a different focus and linked to the content we have been studying back at school.

Our first full day focused on the unit ‘Changing Places’, exploring the concept of place vs space in Minehead.

On Day 2 we travelled to the Quantock Hills to learn more about the practice of swailing and test the theory of succession within a heather moorland plagioclimax.

On our final day, we stood in the blanket bogs of Exmoor and the upper course of the River Exe to investigate the Exmoor Mires Project and the importance of these environments for water and carbon storage.
