Our annual trip to the world-renowned opera house Glyndebourne proved to be a memorable, cultural experience. Students from Year 10 to 13 enjoyed a performance of The Railway Children, a brand-new opera, written by Mark-Anthony Turnage, that transforms a much-loved children’s classic into a thrilling musical adventure.
Following the performance, the students were fortunate enough to meet members of the cast, giving them an exclusive insight into the world of professional opera production. Their chance to ask questions added a personal and inspiring memory to the performance.
The opportunity offered the students the chance to witness artistry, production values, and musical excellence at the highest level. The combination of performance, setting and cast interaction made this year’s trip a rich cultural opportunity.
Mr George Stewart, Subject Leader of Music at the school, commented:
'The Shine 2025 Conference at Worth Abbey was an unforgettable experience that helped me reflect on my faith alongside my peers and see how we can implement our faith in every aspect of our lives.'
