IT Helpdesk

At St Paul’s Catholic College, we recognise the importance of ICT in improving the achievement of students across the curriculum. That’s why in 2005 we introduced our very own laptop scheme, enabling our students to lease a laptop over a two or three year period, with the option to buy the laptop at the end of the scheme.

We currently have 700 student laptops and 100 staff laptops and are aware of the kinds of difficulty involved with keeping an inventory.

The Helpdesk software is specifically designed for use by IT departments within the education sector.

Fault Tracking

  • Calls are linked directly to the equipment stored in the integral inventory;
  • Clear interface divides calls into categories: Open, In Progress, Closed and Awaiting Collection for easy tracking;
  • Calls can be prioritised with Emergency, High, Normal or Low to assist IT staff in dealing with faults efficiently;

Inventory

  • A comprehensive database capable of storing all kinds of hardware and software;
  • Quickly search the inventory using a range of criteria;
  • Serial numbers can be used to quickly enter and search hardware in the inventory with the aid of a handheld scanner;
  • Powerful searching and reporting facilities means users can generate a wide variety of reports based on the inventory (see Reporting);
  • Inventory includes the capability of storing data exclusive to schools and laptop schemes;

Reporting

  • The Helpdesk contains a range of useful pre-defined reports which can be generated at a click of a button
  • With a small amount of Access knowledge it is possible to customise the pre-defined reports or create new reports to meet your specific needs;
  • Generate letters
