Burgess Hill Mega Bowl
Tuesday 29th June & Thursday 1st July
Staff from St. Paul’s Catholic College and Oakmeeds Community College combined forces
with Mid Sussex Schools Sports Partnership to hold the “Burgess Hill Mega Bowl”,
a competition between years 7 & 8 from both colleges to celebrate National School
Sports week.
Over 30 year 7 pupils from St Pauls flocked to Oakmeeds. Filled to the brim with
competitive spirit and all working together they tried to defeat the opposition. After competing
in sports like Dodgeball, tennis, dance and Ultimate Frisbee a successful afternoon
concluded with a tug of war which was closely won by St. Paul’s.
On Thursday it was time for the year 8s from both colleges to battle it out for
the trophy. Competition in the same events, the great turn out of students showed
great sportsmanship and determination as they challenged one another throughout
the afternoon. Following the trend of Tuesday both teams took a hold of the rope
and battled it out. After a close competition in the tug of war Oakmeeds pinched
the win by 3-2.
Congratulations to all those who took part in the event, all athletes showed great
maturity and determination. A special thank you to all the staff that helped to
make this event so enjoyable and such a success.
