Les Misérables Feedback

School Edition

To celebrate the highly successful college production of ‘Les Misérables’ we asked students and staff for their comments. Here is a selection of responses from those who enjoyed a fantastic experience, either as part of the production or in the audience.

"The play was outstanding and I would never expect a play to be so great, much better than plays in theatres. A great night out with my friend and very enjoyable." Calum Bell, 7C
"I went to ‘Les Mis’ expecting the usual from a school production, good but very much what it is, a school production. What I got was fantastic, and certainly the best school production I've seen. None of the usual muck-ups and bad acting, an all round great night out." Sam Robinson. 11R
“I felt proud and honoured to work among such talented staff and students!” Ashley Venditto, Finance Manager
"It was a truly fantastic show, the whole cast were simply amazing, and I had a lot of fun making everyone look nice and dirty with my mud coloured make up each night." Chelsea Hennessey, 11L
"I have never worked on a show that had such fantastic camaraderie among the cast and crew, it was so much fun!" Ms K McNabb, English and Drama Teacher
"I thought ‘Les Mis’ was brilliant it was very top class and I didn’t get bored because it was a very catchy." Alex Newnham-Sykes, 7C
"It was so fantastic to work with such talented and dedicated students who produced such a high quality performance." Many thanks Mrs S Knight, Music Subject Leader
"IT WAS TOTALLY AWSOME!!!! But I really miss it now, looking forward to the concert at Worth Abbey!" Alejandro Fernandez-Holt, 9D
"I have seen ‘Les Misérables’ in London three times and did not expect a school production to be of such high quality. It was a particularly mature and professional production from such a young cast and the orchestra handled a difficult score very well." Kim Hallissey, PA to Headteacher
"I was in the band for ‘Les Mis’ and I thought it was an outstanding performance. The singing and acting was amazing. I thought that this show was the best we've done. Thanks to everyone else involved in the show." Jessica Kyndt, 9V
“It was, quite simply, the finest school production I have ever seen, anywhere. The performances of such tenderness, power and character you drew from the cast were astonishing. There was some exceptional talent on display, but one of the great strengths of the production was that everyone was totally committed and gave it their all. The intensity and drama was sustained from beginning to end, underpinned by a brilliant design and an excellent orchestra. (I saw the score and know how difficult it was!)” Laurie Perry, Business Manager
"‘Les Mis’ was probably one of the best musicals and the best opportunities I’ve been given in my whole life it just really makes you think about how dreams can come true from virtually nothing into being in a school musical. ‘Les Mis’ was one of the best musicals St. Paul’s has done and we all bonded so well together; that’s one reason why it worked the bond we all had by the end. I cannot wait for next year’s musical and am really looking forward to it." Paul Nash, 12GRS
"I had the privilege of helping out back stage on two nights and was so impressed at how well they worked together. I just kept thinking that if more people could be able to see them like this, that it would really change their view of teenagers today." Miss A Hammond, Science Teacher
"I think ‘Les Mis’ was really good. The cast in the show were amazing. When I saw the show nothing went wrong. I was in the back stage and made sure all the props were there for the cast to use and so were Annie Donohue and Rosie McDonnell and Megan Taylor. We did a good job and they used to props well. The show was the best one that I have seen. We always impress." Sophie Davidson, 8C
"Was part of the cast and was the best experience of my life. So much talent throughout those involved whether it be cast musicians or lighting. Audiences was fantastic every night." Ryan Fernandes, 11L
"It was the best experience ever. I felt like it was the most professional show I've ever been in. It was definitely better than last year. Or as my friends say, the best show out of all the ones that have been put on. A primary school student even said it was better than the West End." Anna Antwi, 8C
"I thought it was absolutely brilliant and all the actors performed very well." Gabriella Schummer, 7D
"‘Les Mis’ was amazing, I was taken away on how brilliant it was. All the actors and actresses were very talented and deserved much more than just applause. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in the audience." Kirstie Elkins, 7C
"I was in the audience. Amazing, made me cry in some parts! Was like a West End show!!" Hannah Brown, 11R
