St. Paul's through to the Basketball District Play-offs
St. Paul's finished victorious in a triangular tournament against local rivals Oakmeeds
and Oathall. The year 9 boys dominated the event across both games, finishing with
a 18-0 victory against Oathall and a 12-2 victory against Oakmeeds. Captain, Conor
Ryan motivated the team throughout with Phil Demetriades championing the defence.
Greg Umeh shows continued progress making an impact under the basket at both ends
and the calm, assured Steve Moorton played with a faultless display of attack minded
decision making. Jack Donaldson made some crucial rejections early on in the first
match and 'livewire' Jarrod Hopson carried the ball into the attack with speed and
agility. Max Richardson fought hard during his court time to secure 4 rebounds and
make a push for a starting 5 position.
New team member, Harry Dendy made his debut and came close to scoring several times
in the dying minutes of the final match. The team were all very supportive of each
other and my thanks to Conor Ryan for his organisation last week while I was off
school.
Well done boys! Next round is Wednesday 16th November at the Weald!
