Year 10 Football Team Draw 2-2 at Oathall

The year 10 football team played Oathall in their friendly before the Mid Sussex tournament on Tuesday last week. Coach Gainey had called for a fighting spirit from the first whistle, as opposed to the normal 20 minutes it takes us to get going and the lads duly responded.

As soon as strikers Alexson and Craig Mallon kicked off, inspired by quality leadership from George Holah in the centre of the park all the boys were driving forward and looked a threat throughout the first half. However it took until the 44th minute before Captain Holah headed home from a corner.

In the second half Holah struck again from a corner, this time side footing home from a tight angle, giving us a seemingly comfortable 2-0 lead. Oathall continued to battle well and scored with 20 minutes to go, making for a nervous finale. Thorne and Martindale looked solid at the back, but could do nothing to stop the equalizer 5 minutes before the end

Overall it was the best team performance of the year and great to see us controlling the game for a change, it was just a shame we could not hold on at the end.

Well played boys
