Runners Up in Mid Sussex Tournament

The year 7 basketball team put all their experience from the warm up matches into action last Thursday when they competed in the year 7 Mid Sussex basketball tournament held at Oakmeeds School.

Their were 2 pools leading the way to the final. In the first game we played a tough and physical Warden Park side and typically did not really start firing on all cylinders till the second match where we faced Oakmeeds A team. The boys produced a fantastic performance that proved a massive confidence boost. Everyone scored points in the 22-6 victory, with good performances from James Massey and Dean Bell.

In the third game of the group a win would see us play Warden Park in the final, with a chance to get even for a 6-0 loss in the first game. Again the lads rose to the occasion comfortably beating Tanbridge house 18-4.

In the final there was nothing between the two teams with some excellent defensive play from both sides preventing points being scored. However with only 15 seconds left on the clock Warden Park broke through with a fast break and with a lay up sunk the winning basket.

Overall the boys should be very pleased with their performance, with special mentions going to Anesu who worked really hard under the basket for the team, hitting rebounds all day long.

Never mind boys there is always year 8.
