Year 7 Basketball Tournament

The year 7 basketball team were in action last night in their third preparation match for the Mid Sussex tournament at Oakmeeds after half term.

We played a full court game against Oakmeeds who had previously defeated a strong Tanbridge house team. We were feeling confident despite a set back against Sackville the previous week.

The Game started well and by the end of the first quarter we were 4 points up, although probably not having played our best basketball. We kept giving the ball away and getting hit on the counter attack!

In the second and third quarters Dan Barna’s defensive work was fantastic marking the Oakmeeds number 11 who had scored a lot of their points. Dean Bell had his best game so far and started to hit lay ups and pass the ball well. Antonio was skilful and used his pivot well to create scoring opportunities while Anesu and Eddie worked hard to get the rebounds. Henry Tagg was also in fine form hitting some good jump shots from outside, while James Massey showed his dribbling skills, driving to the basket.

With a final score of 28 points to 20 we were pleased with the win, although we are certain there is more to come from the team. Unfortunately Oathall can not play in next weeks fixture, so we are trying to arrange another friendly before the tournament in a couple of weeks.
