- Spacious classrooms: the new school has a very large sports hall, main hall, Learning Resource Centre and classrooms including the 100 sq ft art studios.
- Outdoor games area suitable for most weathers and large enough for 5 full size tennis courts, 4 mini tennis courts and 5 netball courts.
- Use of the Triangle Leisure Centre via the underpass onsite, particularly during our enrichment afternoon.
- ICT Provision: interactive whiteboards in every classroom, a wireless network, 250 brand new desktop computers and laptops for all Year 7 students.
Interactive Whiteboards
Every teaching room in the school has an interactive whiteboard, used to deliver stimulating visual and audio content. The interactive whiteboards combine the functionality of a computer, whiteboard, touch screen, projector and television to deliver a broad range of teaching and learning materials. All staff are trained to use the interactive whiteboards effectively and students enjoy participating in activities using the boards.
ICT Infrastructure
At St Paul's we've installed the latest cutting-edge technology. We are able to boast a high speed network with more than 250 brand new desktop computers and flat screen panels. Each computer is loaded with sophisticated educational software and specialist programs. The wireless network means that students with laptops can access Internet based resources like the VLE from anywhere in the school.
The new building boasts the following:
- 124 students to be admitted each year (the same as before).
- A Sixth form centre for the town of Burgess Hill as well as our own students from a wider catchment area.
- An emphasis on E-learning, with interactive whiteboards in every classroom, and a wireless network.
- An extra curricular afternoon for all students.
- Disabled access.
- Photovoltaic cells-to generate electricity.
- Computer controlled under floor heating throughout 134 separate zones.
- The same caring friendly atmosphere transferred from our previous site.
- An aim to improve upon our current very high academic standards and results.
The new school has the following provision:
- A sports hall.
- A drama studio.
- A main hall.
- A dining room with a cashless smart card system.
- A chapel.
- A very large Learning Resource Centre.
- Suites of classrooms with resource bases.
- Geography rooms that will be the envy of Geography teachers throughout the South of England.
- Seven science laboratories.
- Design and Technology faculty suite.
- Suites of Art and ICT rooms.
- A multi-games area, which will include 6 tennis courts.
- Five County standard netball courts.
- Grass pitches – the first phase will be ready in the autumn 2005.
- Plans for an Astroturf pitch.
Use of Leisure Centre
The Triangle Leisure Centre has extensive facilities, which we are now using during our extra curricular afternoon. The facilities include swimming pools, a 12-court sports hall, squash, weights rooms, etc. access to the leisure centre is via an underpass linked to the St Paul’s site.
