Enrichment

All students have the fantastic opportunity to participate in an activity of their choice on Wednesday afternoons designed to enrich their lives by improving their skills or giving them the opportunity to try something new.

Enrichment is a compulsory part of our curriculum where we endeavour to offer an alternative set of options that will give our young people a chance to participate in a group setting in a creative and challenging way. Our enrichment afternoon takes place on a Wednesday between 1.30-3.05

The vision for this is firmly linked to our educational vision where we strive ‘to provide an innovative, inspirational and Christian education which challenges, nurtures and informs our students to enable them to take place in a changing world’.

Enrichment News

This term I split the badminton tournament into 2 groups. Year 10 and 11 boys in 1 group of 5 and another seperate tournament with the remaining 15 players. The larger of the 2 tournaments was split into 3 groups of 5 players each. The winner of each group and the 4th player with the highest amount of points will take the 4th place for the semi finals. We had some extremely close and exciting games with the eventually winner in 2 groups changing until the final games were played. The semi finals were played between Helen Rutherford and Carla Benitez with Carla winning 15-10 and George Jessup and Ryan Whittington with Ryan winning 15-9. The final between Carla and Ryan was a repeat of the group stages but this time Carla coming out as the eventual winner 15-10.

In the Year 10 and 11 boys we had an extremely competitive group with nobody giving in until the last point had been won. The final game was between Josh Jones and Andy Brown, both previous winners. This was a thrilling game and not until the end did we know who was going to win but Josh eventually came out on top 21-17.

For those students who either play or would like to try I do have Pay and Play sessions on both Mondays for Year 7-10 and Tuesdays for 11-13. It starts at 3.15 until 4pm at a cost of £2 so if you feel the inclination do come along.

Our Policy

  • All teachers and coaches who lead the sessions will be CRB checked;
  • All students in years 7-11 will participate in this weekly event;
  • All students will, as far as possible, be given a choice of activity-although this varies as some activities are more popular, and group sizes are limited;
  • Students will stay with their group leaders during the sessions;
  • Students who are unable to take part in their activity due to injury/lack of kit/or the inability to behave appropriately will go to a designated room at St Paul’s where they will take part in supervised study;
  • Parents will be asked for a basic donation of £1 a week to help pay for the hire of facilities and payment of coaches/teachers;
  • Some very expensive activities such as aspects of Duke of Edinburgh, fitness, and golf are costed and charged for on top of this donation.
